Young Automotive Group makes off-season unforgettable for 15 Weber State coaches
Throughout 2024, the Young Automotive Group has focused on celebrating their 100th year of business. During three grand openings, three vehicle giveaways, four parades, a groundbreaking ceremony and several charitable events, they’ve told their history to attendees.
Each rendition covers the details of their development from a small service shop to over 30 franchises across three states. While there can be a lot to cover, the leaders of the Young Automotive Group always make sure they’re telling of the story includes a specific element — the partners that have helped them become what they are today.
On July 26, the company celebrated one of those partners with an incredible vehicle giveaway with Weber State University.
“Events like that are always anticipated, especially when they involve partners like Weber State,” said Brad Taylor, general manager of Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Morgan. “Many people that work at the Young Automotive Group are former Wildcats, and they’re invested in how each of their teams perform. We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunities we have to honor those that’ve done so much for both this company and northern Utah as a whole.”
During an event at their Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Morgan dealership, the Young Automotive Group provided 15 Wildcat coaches with Jeep Gladiators for a year. Each vehicle featured a signature wrap that represented the university, the Young Automotive Group and GoldenWest Credit Union.
A list of recipients that included recent conference and national champions, the following coaches were awarded:
- Tight ends coach David Fiefia.
- Offensive line coach Brent Myers.
- Co-defensive coordinator Joe Dale.
- Co-defensive coordinator Grant Duff.
- Volleyball coach Jeremiah Larsen.
- Softball coach Kristin Delahoussaye.
- Women’s basketball coach Jenteal Jackson.
- Women’s soccer coach Craig Sanders.
- Assistant women’s soccer coach Mekell Moss.
- Director of men’s golf Scott Erling.
- Women’s golf coach Sara Hogue.
- Associate athletic director Kayla Morgan.
- Women’s track and field assistant coach Lindsey Anderson.
- Director of sports medicine Joel Bass.
- Spirit squad director Summer Willis.
“As coaches, we’re always trying to build into our community,” Delahoussaye said. “We’re trying to build our athletes and we’re trying to do all these things, and that can be a daunting task on days, but having support from [the Young Automotive Group] and having support in lots of other ways is so helpful both for us just to do it, but also just feeling the support is big for us, for our players, for our athletes.”
The Young Automotive Group and Weber State’s relationship spans back several years. Sponsoring many Wildcat games and matches, the company frequently participates in the school’s career fairs and invites the university to charitable events held by their non-profit, the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation.
“We love working with the Young Automotive Group because they truly advocate for the community,” said Tim Crompton, Weber State’s athletics director. “We aim to partner with those who support our goals and objectives, and the Young family embodies this. We’re excited about the future.”
According to Crompton, the university plans to participate in exclusive initiatives with Young Caring for Our Young throughout the year as well as hold events for coaches. They have also discussed hosting a pantry pack assembly event — where volunteers assemble two-day meal kits for students experiencing hunger.
While this celebration is far from the Young Automotive Group’s last in 2024, those across the organization have noted that this event will be reflected on when the year closes.
“We’re a five-generation family business, and that means some of us have been a part of this company since birth,” said Spencer Young Jr., president of the Young Automotive Group. “As one of those individuals, I can tell you how important great partners like Weber State are to what we do.”
