The Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with iT1, a leading IT solutions provider, and Nucleos, a public benefit corporation, to enhance education and training programs for incarcerated individuals across the state.

This collaboration will implement AchieveDXP, a cutting-edge digital platform for education and training, designed to deliver comprehensive education and vocational training programs to Wyoming’s correctional facilities.

The initiative aims to improve rehabilitation efforts and reduce recidivism rates by providing WDOC’s inmate population access to high-quality learning resources and career pathways. Key aspects of the program include:

  1. Access to over 15 course providers, offering a wide range of academic and vocational programs;
  2. Integration with Wyoming’s workforce development agency to align skills training with job market demands;
  3. Secure, dedicated devices provided by iT1 for learning and training purposes; and
  4. Comprehensive tracking of progress and outcomes to drive continuous improvement.

“This partnership has afforded expanded opportunities to the inmate population as the WDOC enters the electronic age. The educational platform provides extensive learning opportunities as well as higher degree possibilities,” said Scott Abbott, WDOC Prison Administrator. “Staff can now provide one on one services virtually which expands classroom size capabilities beyond what was once possible. The WDOC is excited to continue to identify ways in which such services can assist both staff and inmates in the learning environment.”

“iT1 would like to thank the WDOC and other state of Wyoming agencies for their partnership in bringing the latest technology into their facilities to provide the best digital education to their residents with the goal of bringing home better citizens with greater opportunities to succeed and contribute in the community,” said Ian Dunnington, VP of Government Sales and Programs for iT1. “Thank you for making [iT1] a part of your mission support team.”

“This partnership with the WDOC, Nucleos and iT1 represents a significant step forward in correctional education,” said Noah Freedman, CEO for Nucleos. “By integrating multiple course providers and workforce development resources into a single platform, we’re creating a more cohesive and effective learning experience that breaks down long standing barriers. Our goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to build successful futures, regardless of their circumstances.”

This initiative underscores Wyoming’s commitment to innovative rehabilitation strategies and positions the state to remain proactive and forward-thinking in correctional education reform.

Fifty-one (51) tablets were initially deployed within the institutions in January 2024, with an additional 500 tablets deployed during April and May 2024.

Currently, the WDOC has been able to provide access to 604 tablets, distributed across all the WDOC facilities.

The initiative to utilize/implement tablets has been made successful by the implementation of WiFi in the facilities that only links to approved WDOC tablets.

All tablets have a high degree of security that limits what the inmates have access to, only allowing approved content to be viewed.

The goal is to expand the accessibility of tablets to a 1:1 ratio.
