IndyCar points standings after Bommarito Automotive Group 500
Josef Newgarden won his second race of the season for Team Penske on Saturday night at the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 near St. Louis.
Newgarden increased his total points on the season to 317. The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner sits in eighth place. Alex Palou finished fourth, which increased his lead of 49 points to 59. There was a shakeup for second place, however.
Colton Herta took fifth at IndyCar’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500. The result moved Herta from fourth in the standings to second.
Scott Dixon remained in third place in the championship race and Will Power fell from second to fourth.

IndyCar Series Rookie of the Year standings
Entering this weekend already with a 40-point lead on his Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Kyffin Simpson, Linus Lundqvist further solidified his chances at capturing IndyCar’s 2024 Rookie of the Year title with his second podium of the season Saturday evening at World Wide Technology Raceway. Lundqvist’s 36-point haul, up against Simpson’s five points after crashing out 84 laps in and finishing 25th, gives the No. 8 Honda driver a 71-point edge in the ROY battle with just four races to entering Portland next weekend.

IndyCar Series Leaders Circle standings
A tight fight for the final four spots in IndyCar’s Leaders Circle program got even tighter after Saturday evening’s chaotic race at World Wide Technology Raceway. Once thinking he would be in contention in the closing laps for his first IndyCar win, David Malukas’ crash with Will Power left the Meyer Shank Racing driver 21st, but he kept the car 19th in Leaders Circle standings with four races to go. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Pietro Fittipaldi maintained 20th for the No. 30 Honda with his 14th-place result.
With his first-ever IndyCar top-10 in 9th, Sting Ray Robb gave AJ Foyt Racing’s No. 41 Chevy entry a little more breathing room, jumping into 21st in the Leaders Circle race, now eight points clear of Ed Carpenter Racing’s No. 20 driven Saturday by Ed Carpenter, who finished 17th and dropped a spot to 22nd in the late-season battle. Conor Daly’s 13th-place finish with a damaged car wasn’t enough to lift the Juncos Hollinger Racing No. 78 Chevy into the highly-coveted top-22, but he’s now just three back of the cutline in 23rd, two points closer than the entry entered this weekend. Dale Coyne Racing’s No. 51 and No. 18 Hondas stayed 24th and 25th and fell further back in the race for the top 22.
IndyCar’s Leaders Circle program awards teams just over $1 million the following season to eligible teams’ full-season entries that finish in the top 22 in points.
